Discount Malabrigo Merino Yarn
I really love knitting with discount Malabrigo merino yarn for a number of reasons. It helps remind me of why I got started in the relatively cheap or inexpensive hobby of knitting and crocheting to begin with. For one thing, it’s very relaxing, and when you’re working with something as incredibly soft as the hand-dyed discount Malabrigo merino yarn, it’s extremely therapeutic and helps to melt stress away. And it’s less expensive than you might think. I can typically get a 100 gram 215 yard skein for about ten dollars. This superfine fleece is an absolute dream to knit with. It comes from the northern section of Uruguay, spun from the best Merino sheep that have been bred by generation after generation of sheep ranchers.
By spinning the raw fiber merino wool, strength is added to the fiber and keeps it together. When you have strands of fiber from the spinning process, these strands can then be twisted together. You end up with what’s called plied yarn. It might be something like 2-ply or 4-ply, the number referring to the number of single strands that were twisted to form the Malabrigo merino yarn. The beauty of this discount Malabrigo merino yarn is simply staggering. Though amazingly soft, it has a slightly thick texture in parts and a very thin and smooth texture in other parts, a rustic characteristic that reflects its handspun origin. And the color is stunning, to say the least. Depending on your needs, you will be able to get worsted weight that will knit at four or five stitches per inch on US 7-9 knitting needles. As for the different weights, you can get discount Malabrigo merino yarn in super fine and thin lace weight or the heavier and thicker worsted weight. It all depends on what your needs are for the yarn.
As for getting started with discount Malabrigo merino yarn for an easy knitting project, be sure you learn about the different needles available, the basic types of yarns you can use, basic stitches for fine knitting, and locate an easy pattern, weather it be for gloves, socks, or a scarf. As you gain more experience, you can move on to other fibers and even yarns that are a blend of different fibers. And even if you’ve been knitting for long time, there seems to be always something new you can learn. And there are so many yarns available you can spend a lifetime and have a lot of fun exploring and trying different types of beautiful yarns. You can find a large variety of gorgeous yarns by going to knitting workshops, at local knitting groups, craft fairs, craft and fabric stores, and online. But even with the huge selection and variety available, since discovering this amazing yarn several months ago, I will always favor discount Malabrigo merino yarn for many of my knitting projects.
