Malabrigo Silky Yarn is a Dream to Knit With

Posted by YarnSpinner | Malabrigo Merino Yarn |

A lot of the Malabrigo silky yarn I like to use consists of a blend that has 51% being silk and the remaining 49% being Merino wool. If you like to make warm weather clothing like sweaters, mittens, gloves, hats, and socks, then this type of yarn will be perfect for you. It is an absolute joy to work with. Malabrigo yarn comes from the wool of sheep raised on the ranches of a rural cooperative in the north areas of Uruguay in South America. It’s hand spun so you get fine variations in texture and thickness along the yarn strands. It is scrumptiously soft and a pure dreamy pleasure to knit with and wear the resulting garment. You will often find it is a DK (double knit) weight so its slightly lighter than worsted, coming in at 50 grams per 150 yards. And like a dream in awesome color, you can get this natural hand dyed Malabrigo silk yarn in amazingly stunning colors too.

Using this type of yarn has many advantages and offers pleasant reminders of why I got started knitting; you may find the same applies to you. Because look: Anyone that spends any amount of time truly putting their heart and souls into knitting could not possibly be unhappy with it, especially when you get to use something as pleasurable and soft as Malabrigo silky yarn for your projects. Everyone who gets started with it absolutely loves it and find that it is quite addicting in fact. Getting involved with knitting will mean you will have to commit a fair amount of time to it. But if you learn how to manage your time properly you will never have difficulty finding the time to knit, sometime throughout your busy day.

But not all projects will take a lot of time. I can knock out a pair of cute comfy socks in just a few hours (of course, I know the pattern by heart already, and I’ve done it so much it’s like second nature to me). But creating a sweater will take longer, even for me, because most of my knitting experience is on smaller garments like socks. Still, any project you take on using Malabrigo silky yarn (which makes for an awesome sock yarn) will be completed in a time frame that’s dependent on your ability and your schedule and the type of project.

Knitting sweaters is something that will take plenty of time and practice, much more than a pair of socks. Knitting an afghan is definitely going to take up a great deal of your time but the end result will sometimes even amaze you. Knitting with different types of yarn will be quite a unique experience itself and learning about the different kinds of needles will be too. Knitting is a personal thing and experience and you make of it whatever you want. It can be something that you do for a hobby or it could even be something that you do to make yourself some extra money as you sell your creations to other people. Whatever you decide to do, whatever route you decide to take with your knitting, be sure to do at least on socks or hat or sweater project with Malabrigo silky yarn and you will agree it provides a great knitting experience.
